Right positioning and placement of a fisheye camera ensure a circumspect coverage of your offices and places of business. It helps in providing a comprehensive surveillance of a given room or space.
Advik is a leading security camera manufacturer in India and today, we’ll share tips to make the most of your CCTV camera in this article. Take note of these 3 tips when positioning and in the placement of your camera to reduce the loss of image quality due to warping.
1. Avoid Corners: The coverage area and field of view of a fisheye camera is circular. Placing it in a corner greatly reduces this coverage area. It is ideal to place a fisheye camera in the middle of the ceiling of a room to maximize the coverage area of the camera.
2. Optimum lighting: Since the field of view is circular/oval, the corners tend to get darker in the absence of bright and optimum lighting. It may cost you a little to add a few more light sources to ensure the entire space is brightly lit, but it’ll be worth it to get good image and video footage.
3. Center the camera focus on the desired: Although a fisheye camera has a larger field of view, there is loss of image quality especially on the outer edges due to de-warping. It is advisable to centre the camera focus on the key desired area for maximum capture and benefit.
In case of 180-degree cameras, place the camera in the center of the area under surveillance so that a wider field of view is covered. It is also useful to place the camera at a height to increase the field of view. Be sure to consider the mega pixels of the camera you choose when deciding the distance you place it at and the position of the fisheye camera Remember positioning and configuration are critical when using the fisheye camera.
