Night or low light vision: If the security camera is not capable of producing quality images at night or when the light source is very dim, then the purpose of installing the same fails. This feature of the camera can be checked with the lux rating. Lower the rating, the better will be the results. The 0 lux states that the camera is capable of producing images in total darkness as well.
Image quality: The security camera must be capable of producing quality images. The shadow effect or hazy images does not serve the purpose of installing the security camera. The HD and above quality cameras are designed to give clear images. But if you are looking for basic security then an analog camera is the right choice. There are times when there are multiple or very sharp light sources which impacts the image of the object. The good camera can adjust the object image depending on the source of light. This feature is good if you are a regular traveller, leave your house vacant for most of the day and even for babysitters.
Wiring: The wired and wireless models of the security cameras are available in the market. It is usually cumbersome to make additions in the wiring system. Choose the ones that require minimum the wiring and maintenance and where additions and deletions is easily possible.
